Ireland - Tuesday 5/30
Started writing this in our rental unit with the sound of sheep in the distance. Then I thought why listen to sheep when I can listen to a bartender say, "May I pour you another pint?" So this is now being updated at The Dingle Pub in Dingle, Ireland.
Today's journey was traveling The Ring of Kerry. Our trusted tour guide, Rick Steves, suggested being on the road no later than 8:30am to beat the tour busses. I thought, to be on the safe side, we should leave by 6:30am, but Mike said "Damn, you're old!" He's right, I need to lighten up and be more like him. So we left at 9am. Not a cloud in the sky, the drive is an explosion of green, rolling hills and wild flowers.
Our first stop along the ring was the beach at Derrynane (like “Maryann” - Gorgeous!) Our innkeeper last night said it was spectacular and it did not disappoint! Sands are silky and white with mussel covered tide rocks. Up on a bluff was an old stone church and graveyard. I've never thought about being in a graveyard but we thought this spot would be a pretty sweet spot to be buried.
Next stop along the tour was the Cliffs of Kerry. It has two vista points that are a bit of a hike to reach. Climbing the first, it was very warm with still air. As Mike and I reached the top, I heard a woman say, "Oh, there's a cool breeze."
The views from both vista points were plunging and amazing.
The forts are made by stacking rocks super tight together. There’s no “grout” and they’re water-tight - And 2 feet thick!
At this point we had been driving the Ring for five hours, so we grabbed lunch in Kells and headed on to Dingle!
Here are some extra animal photos from today!

Did you correct her and say - what you're experiencing is a "Keanu".
