Ireland - Friday 6/2 - Part 2

Accidentally deleted this post so here we go again…

After lunch we explored all over the island fist stopping at O’Briens castle from1400s.

In the 1800s the English and Irish were worried that Napoleon was going to invade so they built several lookout towers to keep watch and communicate with each other. We’ve seen several on our trip and there’s one on Inisheer. A lot of work for something that never happened.

We visited an 11th century church in ruins with a graveyard the island still uses.

And then we hiked out to a shipwreck.

Inisheer is a desolate landscape (all limestone - nothing grows) but manages to look charming.

We took the last ferry back to Doolin and after a freshening up went into town for dinner and a pint.

On our walk to dinner we met a local…

After dinner we sat at our B&B and watched the sunset turn to night.
